I ran cross country and track at Great Bridge High School and then cross country at Southern Wesleyan University and Longwood University. My dad ran cross country at ODU in the 1980s, so running has been a family tradition that I am now sharing with my two sons (Jack is three and Eliot is six). In graduate school, I struggled to run through knee and shin injuries, but since moving back to the Tidewater area and getting some shoe advice from Running ETC, I’ve participated in local 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons, even getting close to some college personal records again. I love running through nature at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach and Blackwater Creek Nature Trail in Lynchburg. As an English professor, I enjoy running-related books. Currently, my favorite is Once a Runner by John Parker. I am looking forward to running on the team.
